Female Hylaeus communis at work on a nest. The bee applies glandular secretions for completing the seal to her nest with a membranous cellophane-like closure.
West Palaearctic species, widely distributed.
Polylectic species. Nests in pre-existing cavities, e.g. wood burrows.
Bivoltine. Flies from May to September.
