Description

This is one of the oldest traditional Christmas carols. The composer is unknown but there are records of it being sung within the Christian Church as far back as the 15th century. In 1843 Charles Dickens included the song in his famous novel A Christmas Carol.

This arrangement is in classic style with choir, harp, flute, and strings gives a sound much like it might have been performed in a medieval cathedral at mass in the middle ages. Reverent and respectful.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen, let nothing you dismay,

Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day;

To save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray.

Refrain:

O tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy;

O tidings of comfort and joy.

In Bethlehem, in Israel, this blessed Babe was born,

And laid within a manger upon this blessed morn;

The which His mother Mary did nothing take in scorn.
