N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, was founded in the valley of the Shari River and its tributary Logona. During the time of the French colonialists, it was a very calm city, but after gaining independence, a civil war broke out and the city was destroyed. Now N'Djamena is a very colorful city: the modern quarters of glass and concrete contrast with the preserved old buildings. However, there are many reminiscent of the complex history of the city: bullet holes on the walls of the buildings that survived look shocking. Almost all architectural sights are concentrated in the Old Town.
