Serednye castle was built in the XIII century on the place of the modern village (Ukr: Seredne). According to one version castle erected representatives of the most powerful in Western Europe Catholic order of the knights of Templar). After the collapse of the order in 1312 the castle passed into the hands of the monks of the order of St. Paul. During the liberation war of the Hungarian people 1703-1711 the years the castle had suffered considerable damage. Modern scholars studying the castle, through the analysis of the type of masonry walls, tend to position this castle as the oldest in Transcarpathia.
